Yesterday….

Overall a good day.  Couple of blips on the radar but Howe Great ran his usual good race to win the Jersey Derby.  He loves to get that foothold on the last turn and propel himself up the stretch!  Fun to watch.  Congratulations to Team Valor International, owners and breeders.  Nice to see a Japanese […]

Busy Summer Weekend

Herringswell runners head off in several different directions this weekend. In his first start since the UAE Derby in Dubai in late March, Team Valor International’s Lucky Chappy leads a contingent of entries bound for Colonial Downs on Saturday. The son of High Chaparral (IRE) is set to face 8 rivals in the track’s marquee […]

Saturday photos

Carrie Gilbert visited on Saturday before going to the races at Delaware Park and took the following photos: Guess who?                       Toby’s Corner (inside) breezing with Smart Bid.{jcomments on}

Hasay wins

It was a stroke of luck for Hasay that the leader ducked into the opening where the rail stops for a while on the turf track at Delaware as the filly lost ground and allowed Hasay and a couple of others make immediate use of it to gain the lead.  It was nip and tuck […]

Inimitable Romanee

As you can imagine, everyone here has a job pronouncing her name!  In her last two races at Belmont she was second and yesterday she made it a winning one.  She’s had a good record actually since arriving from England last December.  She’s improved with every race.  Congratulations to owner/breeder Gallagher Stud.{jcomments on}

Yesterday’s Stakes action

Although we didn’t win one, we had a second, third and fourth.  Aruna, (who has been first or second in nine of her eleven starts in this country) finished second in the New York Stakes (Grade II) to Mystical Star who is looking to be a force in the Graded Stakes races this year.  Note […]

Cancelled

Both Delaware Park and Parx have cancelled racing today due to the extreme heat hitting the eastern part of the country this weekend. Penn National cancelled last night for the same reason. Good day to either stay in the air conditioning or be outside under the hose!{jcomments on}
