Baron Slew 2007 – 2018

Baron Slew is not a very big horse, but we loved him for the way he tried in his races.  He eventually got claimed and we followed his progress from Kentucky to South Dakota to Nebraska and back to South Dakota.  He was eventually running at the bottom of the ladder so Graham and Anita bought him back and he is now with Trish Hechter (who also has Ballast and Red Dust).  She was chosen out of many applicants to have a horse to show at Stuart Pittman’s Thoroughbred Makeover in October, 2013.  Baron had a few feet issues he is getting over but apart from that he is a bonny horse with a great outlook.  Trish sent a couple of videos below and they are from when she first started getting on him.

Baron Slew

He’s well settled into his new home on the Eastern Shore and loves bath time!

Trish had Baron for many years and he was a wonderful companion to the other horses, children loved riding him and be fussed over by them, but his chronically bad feet eventually got the better of him.  The vet, the farrier and Trish tried everything possible to keep him comfortable but it became apparent in the Fall of 2018 that he wasn’t going to improve enough to live a comfortable life.  It was a hard decision (isn’t it always) for Trish but she knows he’s in a better place.  Thank you Trish for giving him the most happiest years of his life.
