Always a favorite of the riders, Kid is a striking steel gray who raced 14 times, all on the grass. When he came up with some arthritis in his one ankle it was obvious he wasn’t going to be able to keep up with running competitively so West Point Thoroughbreds did the right thing and retired him.
He was adopted by Dr. Sue Thomas, a small animal vet who also has another Herringswell retiree, Rye Talking. Our latest note from Dr. Thomas said this:
“He is cold! All blanketed up. What a sweetie. He nickers to me when I go to barn. He likes my other horse and today they went out into the pasture. They come in at night. He was very nice to work around. He was eating grain and I got a new blanket adjusted and fitted for him while he was eating and he could have cared less! So far I am pretty impressed with this sweet boy!”

He has another new home! Kristie Compton is the barn manager where Kid has been boarded and has been training him and fell in love with him. Sue let her take him on a months trial to make sure and she is! Congratulations to Kristie and she will keep us updated with videos and photos.
