Two retirees

I caught up with a couple of our retirees today.  I went to see Credulity who lives not far from here on a quiet farm in Conowingo.  The girl who has him is now 17 and she’s had him since she was 12.  He turned 8 this year.  He was a promising Pin Oak home […]

Cancelled

Philadelphia Park gave us plenty of warning today that they are cancelling tomorrow’s card due to the forecast of excessive heat. It’s so nice when tracks do that as you don’t have to get organized, get the horse up there and wait around for them to make a decision. Much easier on everyone!{jcomments on}

Mitigate, Bull Hole Kick Off Saratoga Brigade

Long Bay Stable’s Mitigate will hold the title of first Herringswell Saratoga starter when she breaks from the rail in Friday’s second race. In her debut, the 3-year-old daughter of Vindication finished fourth at Presque Isle Downs on July 1. Traveling 5 1/2 furlongs that night, the $145,000 yearling purchase saved ground and finished evenly […]

Cloud Blue – two for two!

That is on the Delaware Park turf.  Since she switched from dirt to turf she’s finding extra gears – with the help of Joe Bravo who really seems to suit her.  From a royaly bred dirt pedigree it is surprising she has taken to the grass but until you try different things with some of […]

Check The Label

Check her out!!! Third Stake win in a row; Grade 3, Grade 2 and another Grade 3 today. All on different tracks. This was Check The Label’s fifth win and as long as she gets racing room she gets the job done. Governor Brereton Jones and his wife Libby were at Colonial today to greet […]

Stakes placed

Horses will never cease to amaze me! Our versatile barn favorite Jade’s Revenge was third in the Greenwood Cup Stakes at Philadelphia Park. His last stake place was back in 2008 on Hollywood Park’s synthetic surface. He went a little off form last year and the owners were thinking of retiring him as he turned […]

Empirior the Emperor!

He certainly was at Monmouth this afternoon. A big 5 year old horse by Empire Maker, Empiror is getting better with age. He’s only been in the barn for his past three starts but seems to like training at Fair Hill. He reminds me a lot of Bullsbay as he’s a big horse and looks […]

Super Saturday

Nine horses will run from the Herringswell barn on Saturday, at four different tracks. From Colonial to Monmouth to Delaware to Philadelphia, the nine will run for a over $1,536,000 in collective purse money. Live Oaks Legacy, Taking A Chance, Check the Label and Moon Music are highlighted by Check the Label’s attempt for a third […]

Off Turf at Delaware Park; Bullsbay to Start in Sussex S.

Bullsbay will have the opportunity to run in Delaware Park’s tenth race on Saturday with the cancellation of turf racing. Bullsbay will be ridden by Jeremy Rose. The Sussex Stakes, originally carded as a 1 1/16 miles turf stakes for older horses, will be transferred to the main track due to a substantial amount of […]
