“Lochte” as he is now called was owned by Michael Phelps and his manager Bob Bowman.  As he wasn’t going to make it on the big stage rather than run him and get claimed they decided to retire their sound horse.  Hillary Irwin who already has a couple of other retirees saw him and fell in love with him.  She gave him his new name!  He’s already been with her in Florida for the winter and North Carolina which is home base.  She said he is progressing nicely and sent us some photos below.

April 4th, 2018 update

Just got an email from The Jockey Club that this little monkey was 2nd for eventing of Off the Track Thoroughbreds that last raced in 2016! Hard to believe he did last race just over two years ago as he is looking to move up to preliminary soon. Such a special little horse, in all the ways.

Follow Hillary Irwin on Facebook as she’s always posting about ‘Lochte’ and Nutello ‘Mo’!
