Lucky Strikes Gold

She won for the second time at Presque Isle.  She seems to like the surface there and her two wins came almost year apart, both in September.  She’d had a few misses in between though!  Ridden for the first time by Mario Pino she made it look quite easy.  Congratulations to Stewart Strawbridge.{jcomments on}

Hasay

Another German bred filly won a Stake for us yesterday at Monmouth.  Her name is Hasay and she is by Lomitas, one of the top German sires.  She didn’t give Pablo Morales a very comfortable ride as she was pulling quite hard in the early stages but he managed to keep her in check and […]

Hoofit ‘hoofsit!’

Corny I know but that’s what exactly what Hoofit did at Presque Isle last night.  He’s a big horse but obviously fast as the race was five and a half furlongs.  Hoofit came from New Zealand earlier in the year on a horrendous journey that took him half way around the world.  He then went […]

Nearly a treble!

Both State Of Play and Get A Grip won their races at Saratoga yesterday and Humadea was close to winning hers too but just ran out of ground.  Get A Grip won his race by digging in to fend off his challengers, while State Of Play won the With Anticipation Stakes (Grade II) by dictating […]

Daveron…..again!

Joe Clancy of the Steeplechase Times wrote this very nice article about Daveron’s race last week. Click on the link below to read: Steeplechase Times Eliseo Ochoa is mentioned in the article. He has worked for Graham for years and is an important part of the team.

Tough Dude!

That would be Daveron!  She was running today in the Ballston Spa Stakes (Grade II) at her favorite distance of 1 1/16 miles.  Looked like she was lolling around in the gate as the assistant starter had to almost pick her up to get her balanced and focused.  Eddie Castro has set up a great […]

We had an earthquake!

It is official.  A 5.9 magnitude.  Apparently the epicenter was in Virginia but it was still pretty strong here!  Funny the things you think though when you don’t know what’s happening.  The lawn mowers were outside and I thought “Wow, they’re making a lot of vibration today!”  Then I heard some kicking in the barn […]

Loose on the lead

No, that wasn’t us in the Sky Classic!  It was a 7-1 shot who went way clear and NOBODY took any notice of him!  Maybe because he wasn’t that fancied who knows, but everyone ran their own race 13 lengths behind and nobody caught him on the good ground at Woodbine.  Smart Bid thankfully was […]

Dynamic Holiday

She definitely deserves a mention as she ran third in the Grade II Lake Placid Stakes today on ground that was certainly less than suitable for her and ground she’d never encountered before.  She’d run on good ground but not on yielding.  She’s now a Grade III winner and Grade II Stakes placed.  Well done […]
