Del Mar Oaks

Summer Soiree was top billing this evening at Del Mar in the Oaks and she didn’t disappoint. Usually a front runner, a horse rudely got in front of her but surprisingly she seemed relaxed behind her (mind you, they weren’t hanging around)!, took over the lead down the backstretch a little earlier than anticipated and […]

Twiggy

This is her pet name from her owners and we call her that at the barn too!  Her real name is She Be Classy and she won her 6th race yesterday!  It was off the turf but she didn’t care as she runs on both surfaces.  The field had a couple of decent Stakes winners […]

Big Top

Nice day for My Meadowview Stables LLC yesterday. Their racing manager was visiting the barn to see the horses and watched a race at Ellis Park which they won and then about one hour and a half later Big Top won at Monmouth. Congratulations to all.{jcomments on}

Gambolling Girl

After a previous ‘practice’ run at Presque Isle Downs Gambolling Girl got it together last night to win nicely. The speed was holding last night in all the races it seems but she was sensibly held off the pace. Congratulations to owner/breeder George Strawbridge, Jr.{jcomments on}

Bayonne

Bayonne who is owned 50/50 with Dark Hollow Farm and Graham and Anita won at Delaware today.  She’s a half sister to a Stakes winner (I think he’s called Eightsofastocatch).  Seems like yesterday they were thinking of a name for her.   Well done, ya’ll.

Two runners, two Stakes, two wins

Both runners today ran in Stakes and both won!  Sanagas was the first and he ran in the John’s Call Stakes at Saratoga.  It was the first year that John’s Call himself wasn’t there to lead the horses to the start as he sadly died over the winter.  Sanagas seems to be a little quirky over here.  […]

Humadea

Humadea was running for the first time in the United States after shipping from Germany in the middle of May.  She won her maiden in good style at Saratoga yesterday and it was especially a good effort as every other horse in the race had run at least one time.  We had Humadea’s mother Humaita […]

Three winners today

They were Meistersinger at Delaware and Walk Softly and Hollopenny at Presque Isle Downs.  The fillies at Presque Isle dictated the pace in their races and were never headed.  Walk Softly in particular was pretty impressive as she seemed to put away the opposition with ease and still full or running.  Meistersinger at Delaware won by […]

Apple Charlotte

She won the Red Carpet Stakes at Penn National this evening.  I was surprised when I looked at the entries and saw who was shipping in for the race – it might as well have been run at Saratoga!  It was a pretty impressive win as she was behind during a slow pace and ran by […]

Attention seeker!

Animal Kingdom had some pony club visitors today and talk about lapping up the attention!  As there were quite a few we suggested they go in 4 at a time and stay for no more than a couple of minutes.  He is a very happy horse and a great personality but I was amazed how […]
